Nordics based biotech, expansion into the US
Case study
The overview
Our partner, a biopharmaceutical company based in the Nordics, were looking to expand into the US market and approached us to assist with their first MSL hires there.
The challenge
Our partner wanted to implement their MSL function in the US, with field-based positions on both the east and west coast. However, as a Nordics based company, they were not yet incorporated in the US. Therefore, they were unable to make permanent hires at that moment. In addition to this, they had little to no knowledge of local compliance and labor leasing laws, which was made more complicated by their plans to hire in two different states. There was the option to use a consultancy, but they wanted specialised and experienced MSLs who had worked in a similar company and therapeutic area to their own.
The solution
We offered a solution whereby we would find the suitable candidates, and then employ them as W2 workers until the time came that our partner would be able to employ them directly. This meant that we could offer a platform for highly qualified candidates to start immediately, assisting on all local tax and compliance matters. We ran the project as a retained search, allowing us to instantly deploy a team of specialists to locate suitable candidates through market mapping and headhunting across the country. We set out a clear delivery schedule and worked closely with our partner to keep the process as smooth as possible, to create a positive candidate experience.
The outcome
Within 10 days of initial conversations with our partner, 10 CVs were shortlisted and submitted with interview requests straight away.
Our team successfully worked to agreed deadlines and this led to rapid hires from introduction to offer – 8 weeks in total
